Program Dates: July 11, 2025 – August 16, 2025
The Au Sable Pacific Rim Program is seeking a Seasonal Kitchen Manager to provide exceptional food service for a community of 25–35 students and staff. This five-week position offers the opportunity to work in a vibrant, Christ-centered environment while supporting a transformative educational program focused on environmental stewardship and faith.
Key Responsibilities
Meal Preparation and Management:
Prepare and present cold breakfasts and facilitate students making to-go lunches for field trips.
Manage and present catered dinners, ensuring smooth service and efficient use of leftovers.
Plan and oversee allergy-friendly meal options.
Work with Camp Casey kitchen staff to manage the meal schedule, report allergies, and coordinate additional food items.
Kitchen Operations:
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen while adhering to food safety standards.
Work within a set budget to minimize waste and maximize resources.
Collaborate with seasonal staff for additional kitchen support as needed.
Oversee the reopening and setup of the kitchen at the start of the program and coordinate its teardown and shutdown at the end of the program.
Community Engagement:
Serve as a supportive and active participant in the program community.
Engage with students and staff during meals to foster fellowship.
Ideal Candidate
Experience:
Prior food service experience, preferably in camp or field program settings.
Proven ability to manage a kitchen independently and work efficiently under time constraints.
Skills:
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work on a budget and minimize food waste.
Experience with allergy-friendly meal preparation is highly preferred.

Flexibility and resilience to manage long hours and work independently in the kitchen.
Compensation and Benefits
Room and Board: Private room in student dormitory and meals provided with students.
Travel: Travel to and from Whidbey Island covered by the program.
Stipend: Competitive 5-week stipend based on experience and qualifications.
