From January 1 to 5, 2025, Au Sable Institute welcomed 34 students from 16 colleges and universities to our Northern Michigan campus for the inaugural Winter Symposium on Creation Care. This gathering was designed to inspire and equip the next generation of Christian environmental stewards, providing a space for deep learning, reflection, and community.
Throughout the symposium, students engaged with expert speakers on the biblical, theological, and ethical foundations of creation care, explored practical steps for sustainability, and immersed themselves in the beauty of the winter landscape through hands-on ecological experiences.
Students built many fires, drank gallons of hot chocolate, played in the snow, and ended each day singing the Doxology together.
During one afternoon session, students were invited to create their own devotionals, which are gathered in this book. These reflections capture their prayers, experiences, insights, and personal encounters with God and His creation. As you read, may their words encourage and inspire you to join in the work of serving, protecting, and restoring God’s earth.
