Dr. Tim Van Deelen

Dr. Van Deelen teaches our Wildlife Ecology course at the Great Lakes Campus during Summer Session II. He is Associate Professor of Forest and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He specializes in conservation and management of large mammal populations in the Great Lakes region, including wolves, deer, red foxes, coyotes, and black bear.

Tim received his B.S. in Biology from Calvin College, M.S. in Wildlife Biology from the University of Montana, and Ph.D. in Wildlife Ecology from Michigan State University. He is an expert in management of large mammals, population dynamics, movement of large mammals through complex landscapes, and growth of Wisconsin's wolf population and its effects on white-tailed deer. He is author or co-author of over 30 scientific papers on the ecology and conservation of native wildlife and serves as a member of the inter-agency technical committees on the management of white-tailed deer, black bear, and grey wolf.
